Should I give him Pre-warning we are having a serious discussion?

Thinking of text messaging him to tell him we are having a serious discussion when he gets home. He will be home around 8 tonight. Should I give him pre-warning? and how much time should I give him if so? Or should I just bombard him when he gets home with this discussion?
